Last night was supposed to be "the night" for the Boston Bruins. They were supposed to come out and rip Matt Cooke's head off, put it on a fence post outside of the TD Fleemut Centarden and put a sign around it that said "This is for you Savy!". They were supposed to come out inspired because they are facing the team that took their best player out for the rest of the season and maybe more. They were supposed to get their revenge, either on the ice or on the scoreboard, and this team came out and didn't do anything I just described.
What happened last night is embarrassing. For anyone who can't deny that, you need to get your head checked. Yet again...YET AGAIN the Bruins came out and played lackluster and shitty hockey. I thought things couldn't get worse after the heartless effort in Montreal, but was disgusting.
Where's the effort? Where's the heart? Where's the passion for a game they're supposed to love? I can handle losing because as a Bruins fan I'm used to it. I will not stand for watching effortless, heartless hockey.
You know what else I'm not going to stand for? Excuses.
It seems that after every game, Claude Julien stands in front of the media and rattles off excuses as to why is team lost.
"Uh, we just came off a long road trip." "We had guys who had the flu." "Well, you know, we've been hurt by injuries." "Well, you know, we don't have our best goal scorer out there."
When does Julien stand in front of the media and say "We played uninspired hockey and weren't very good tonight?" without adding something about someone being hurt, someone being sick or because *GASP* they came back from a fucking road trip. Yeah, a road trip, something every NHL team does.
I'm not calling for Julien's head and I'm not calling for Chiarelli's head because somewhere in this massive frame of rage, I know these guys can get the job done. I think the off season and subsequent season will tell us what these two guys can do in their position.
But seriously Claude, the excuses need to go. Last night was a MUST WIN hockey game. I wasn't calling for blood because they had their shot to do it and it was on March 7. Stand up in front of the media and call your team out, stop fucking coddling them like little babies.
Last night may have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but I doubt it. I'll ride this shit storm out until the sun goes down, but I can tell you right now I'm not very happy about it.
Maybe I'll come on here and blog about how I had a long trip so I'm not going to show up for a day or two, or that my best goal scorer was hurt.
