I hope everything had a good Thanksgiving and subsequently a good weekend (and hopefully off of work). I've been away because I've been busy with some wedding planning and Christmas shopping, but enough about me. It's time to recap some god damn hockey.

11/25 Boston Bruins @ Minnesota Wild

The Bruins and Wild had a fantastic game in Minnesota, although Milan Lucic was once again hurt and will miss 4 week due to a high ankle sprain. Tuukka Rask was outstanding (as we've come to expect) stopping 28 out of 29 shots. The Bruins scored first with Byron Bitz tipping in a Derek Morris slapper. Not to be outdone, the Wild's Andrew Ebbett tied the game with a tip-in of his own in the second period.

After a very good third period and a tight overtime, the two teams went to a shootout where Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci would score to secure the win.

11/27 New Jersey Devils @ Boston Bruins

While most of us were recovering from food and/or booze comas or healing our wounds after those bastardly Black Friday shoppers, the Bruins were playing a matinee game against the New Jersey Devils. Once again the Bruins played a close game that saw itself head into overtime and a shootout. Tuukka Rask got the start between the pipes and stopped 36 of the 37 shots that came his way. Zach Parise got New Jersey on the board first by stuffing the puck, and Rask's leg, into the net in the 1st period. Not to be outdone, Blake Wheeler scored 12 seconds into the 3rd period to tie the game and once again go to overtime and a shootout.

In the shootout, Parise made Rask look like a rookie with a nifty move and scored to put New Jersey up 1-0. Wheeler fired a wrister past Broduer to tie it at 1 and Langenbrunner put the game away.

11/28 Ottawa Senators @ Boston Bruins

After a tough shootout loss to New Jersey, the Bruins welcomed Ottawa into their building for a Saturday Night dance. Tim Thomas got the start in net and didn't look 100%, letting in two soft goals in the 1st period to Daniel Alfredsson and on the power play to Milan Michalek. The Bruins then turned to a forgotten friend, the power play, to get them back on the board. David Krejci, Michael Ryder and Dennis Wideman would each score on the power play to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead. With 20 ticks left on the clock, Thomas let up a tying goal (see: Pittsburgh Penguins game on 11/14) to send the game into overtime (shocking).

In the shootout, Michael Ryder would pot home the shootout game winner and give Boston a record of 2-0-1 over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Stat of the Weekend

The Bruins lead all NHL teams with 11 overtime games, 9 of them going into a shootout. The Bruins are 5-4 in the shootout this season.
