"I enjoyed the constant booing for jumping ship."- Shawn Thornton on Toucher and Rich.
For the second time in five days, the Bruins will host the Toronto Maple Leafs at the TDBank Garden. On Saturday, the Bruins gave the Maple Leafs a man-sized whooping to the tune of a 7-2 beatdown. I'll also have it be known, for those who did not see the game, that the two Leaf goals came late in the game.
Phil Kessel, Boston's #1 hockey enemy, was non-existant in his come back game (unless you look at the +/- category).
Bruins 3 Keys To Winning
Shut down Phil. I know people don't like the idea that Phil Kessel can beat you, but he can. The guy is a good offensive player who can score goals. Unlike when he wore the black and gold, Kessel isn't restricted to focus on his defense, he admittedly said that under Ron Wilson, Phil has more freedom to do what he wants to do. It's not hard to shut Kessel down, we all know that he doesn't like to be touched. If you put a body on him, pester him or get in his face, he will be ineffective. Boston has the tools to shut him down and did so on Saturday night.
Offensive pressure. No matter who is in net for the Maple Leafs, he isn't that good. Whether it be Joey MacDonald, Vesa Toskala or even Jonas Gustavsson, there is no "stud" in net who will make 40-50 saves and could keep a game close. If the Bruins throw the same offensive pressure at the Leafs they did on Saturday night, they should come out with another victory.
Every Leafs loss brings us closer to #1. Ok Bruins, if you don't want to win tonight to shut up Phil Kessel or if you don't want to do it to stay top dog in the Northeast Division, beat the Leafs because of their 1st round pick you have. Seriously, Taylor Hall would look good in a Bruins/P-Bruins jersey.
In Case You Forgot
I just enjoy seeing this!
Also, if you are not going to the Garden tomorrow, I suggest heading over to Hub Hockey and participating in their gametime chat. I'll be there and so will some great Bruins fans.
